Getting the Best Shooting Experience with GemLightbox

Shoot 360 videos using the GemLightbox Turntable set:

The video below demonstrates how to capture videos using the GemLightbox Turntable Set and your smartphone.

Avoid shaking of jewelry when using GemLightbox Aerial

Shaking occurs when your jewelry or photography environment (e.g. table vibrations or outside traffic) is not completely stable.

The shaking amplifies due to the pendulum effect whilst rotating. The immediate suggestions you can implement are:

  • To wait until the earrings or pendant stop shaking before recording a video. You can minimize the time you need to wait for it to stop shaking by holding the earrings and releasing your grip slowly, after placing them into the magnetic holder.
  • To record the video in the slow speed setting. This slower movement will minimize the shaking.

Reduce glare on photos using GemLightbox

To reduce glare on photos, please ensure that there is no additional light source except coming from LED lights inside the GemLightbox and follow the steps below:

  1. Positioning the jewelry lower inside of your GemLightbox by removing the photography table. This reduces the amount of direct light hitting the surface of the stone.
  2. Positioning your smartphone and the angle of the phone stand. The reflection will appear differently when you move around the camera.

The frames per second GemLightbox record for videos

The GemLightbox can record videos with 30 frames per second (FPS). You can check it by going to a video downloaded to a computer > Properties > Details > Frame Rate

If you want a lower FPS, you have the option to capture 15 or 30 second 360 videos. Less time would mean less frames per second.

Capture photos and videos of silver pieces of jewelry

Silver pieces of jewelry can be challenging to capture due to the its highly reflective nature an little contrast between the lighter shades of white shot against a white background. That being said, we need to adjust the settings until you get the configuration to capture a good photo of your silver jewelry. As a start, you can try the following steps below:

  1. Check and install any updates both for your smartphone and the GemLightbox application.
    • For the GemLightbox application: Go to Play Store or App Store > search GemLightbox > Install update.
    • For your smartphone: Go to Settings > Software Update > install update.
  2. On the GemLightbox application settings, toggle on the enable white balance setting button.
  3. Then, turn off both Daylight and Sparkles lighting options.
  4. When you are using the zoom, use it moderately (about 2x zoom) into your images. If you zoom in 4x or more you'll start to see the image quality degrade rapidly.
  5. Before capturing photos or videos, adjust the white balance on the application accordingly by moving the slider left or right.

We are also excited to share with you our GemLightbox Eclipse. It allows you to capture videos and images of your silver pieces of jewelry on a beautiful black background!

The GemLightbox Turntable will be required to operate GemLightbox Eclipse.
