Getting Focus on GemCam Pro
Quick Answer
Start with the GemCam Pro as close to the jewelry as possible, then slowly pull it back until the image snaps into focus. If blurriness persists, clean the lens, reset autofocus in the GemHub, or use the manual focus slider.
Before You Start
GemCam Pro is connected to your computer or laptop via USB-C data transfer cable
GemIQ is open and detecting the camera
Jewelry is placed inside the GemLightbox Pro
Steps
Position the camera correctly
Place the GemCam Pro as close to the jewelry as possible, then slowly pull it back until the piece comes into sharp focus. This is the fastest way to find the correct focal distance.
Adjust brightness after focusing
Once the image is sharp, use the brightness slider in the GemHub to fine-tune exposure before capturing. Do not adjust brightness before achieving focus.
Clean the lens
Use a microfiber or lint-free cloth to gently wipe the GemCam Pro lens. A dirty lens is one of the most common causes of blurry or hazy images.
Reset autofocus in GemIQ
Toggle autofocus off, then back on in the GemHub. Wait a moment for the camera to refocus.
Use the manual focus slider
If the image is still blurry after resetting autofocus, locate the manual focus slider in the GemHub and adjust it slowly until the image becomes sharp.
Enable grid lines
Turn on grid lines in the GemHub to help center gemstones and keep framing consistent across shots. Reposition the camera or adjust the lens angle as needed.
Check the cable connection
Unplug and firmly reconnect the USB-C or USB-A cable. A loose connection can affect camera performance.
Update or reinstall GemHub
If focus issues continue, check that GemHub is updated to the latest version. If the problem persists, reinstall the app.
Expected Result
The videos and images in the GemIQ appears sharp and well-exposed. Autofocus engages when toggled, and the manual focus slider responds smoothly to adjustments.
If This Does Not Work
Try a different USB-C cable or a different port on your computer.
For oversized items that cannot be fully captured with GemCam Pro, use the GemHub for overhead or wider shots.
To add brightness and depth, open the mirrored cover on the GemLightbox Pro — this reflects additional light onto the jewelry.

Common Mistakes
Starting with the camera too far from the jewelry — always start close and pull back slowly.
Skipping lens cleaning when images look slightly soft or hazy.
Adjusting brightness before achieving focus — always focus first.
Not fully seating the USB cable, which can cause intermittent camera detection issues.
