Does the number of megapixels in my smartphone camera matter?

The camera megapixels refers to the number of pixels captured in an image. The resolution refers to the number of pixels horizontally and vertically. Please note that a higher resolution does not necessarily mean a better image quality. A higher resolution simply means that there are more pixels captured in a single image.

There many factors to better image quality including the quality of the lens, the sensitivity to light in the camera, the technology behind the sensor, and the ability to focus quickly. The number of pixels can also be increased by scaling an image up. In this case, the image quality suffers.

Therefore the number of megapixels in your smartphone does not necessarily matter, however at a minimum we recommend a 12-megapixel camera inside of your smartphone.
